The Appalachian Solar Finance Fund (SFF) serves the coal-impacted counties of central Appalachia.

Entities eligible for SFF support include but are not limited to:
- Public:
- K-12 schools
- Colleges and universities
- Local government buildings
- Municipal fire and rescue stations
- Water treatment plants
- Homeless shelters
- Faith institutions
- Other NGOs and nonprofit community institutions
- Private:
- Subsidized housing
- Childcare centers
- Medical facilities
- Private/charter schools
- Colleges and universities
- Manufacturers
- Main Street businesses
- Other anchor commercial entities
The following criteria are prioritized during application review:
- Deployment readiness
- Catalytic capital yield
- Local community impact
- Geographic diversity
