The Appalachian Solar Finance Fund (SFF) serves the coal-impacted counties of central Appalachia.

Is your project located in an eligible area? Check the list.

Entities eligible for SFF support include but are not limited to: 

  • Public:
    • K-12 schools
    • Colleges and universities
    • Local government buildings
    • Municipal fire and rescue stations
    • Water treatment plants
    • Homeless shelters
    • Faith institutions
    • Other NGOs and nonprofit community institutions
  • Private:
    • Subsidized housing
    • Childcare centers
    • Medical facilities
    • Private/charter schools
    • Colleges and universities
    • Manufacturers
    • Main Street businesses
    • Other anchor commercial entities

The following criteria are prioritized during application review:

  • Deployment readiness
  • Catalytic capital yield
  • Local community impact
  • Geographic diversity
